A Dedicated Officer Facing an Unexpected Battle
For nearly ten years, Officer Spencer Freeman has proudly served the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Throughout his career, he has earned the respect of those around him as an exceptional officer, trusted teammate, and genuinely compassionate person.
In late 2024, Spencer began experiencing severe pain in his knees. Like many officers, he believed years of foot pursuits and the physical demands of police work had simply taken their toll. As the pain worsened, he was placed on modified duty. Soon after, he began experiencing significant back problems as well.
Over the next year, Spencer endured countless medical appointments, tests, and uncertainty while searching for answers.
Those answers ultimately revealed something no one expected.
Spencer was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy.
A Life Changed in Just Months
At first, Spencer continued to walk, although much more slowly than before. As his condition progressed, he began relying on a cane. Today, he requires a walker or wheelchair full-time for mobility.
The disease has dramatically changed nearly every aspect of his daily life and is expected to result in his medical retirement from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
While Spencer faces this difficult diagnosis, he is not facing it alone.
He is the loving husband of an LVMPD dispatcher and the proud father of two young daughters. Together, they are navigating an uncertain future while adjusting to the physical, emotional, and financial challenges that accompany a progressive neurological disease.
How You Can Help

Donations will help ease the financial burden by assisting with:
- Adaptive mobility equipment and accessibility needs
- Medical care and treatment expenses
- Travel to medical appointments and specialists
- Household expenses during the transition to medical retirement
- Other unforeseen needs as Spencer’s condition progresses
Every contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability and peace of mind for Spencer and his family during this incredibly difficult time.
