Behind the Blue is a nonprofit and community partner supporting Southern Nevada law enforcement officers, employees, and their families.

We believe the people who serve our community should feel supported by the community they serve. Our volunteers help make that possible.

Whether you are a retired first responder, a law enforcement family member, or simply someone looking for a meaningful way to give back, there is a place for you with Behind the Blue.

You do not need a law enforcement background. You just need a willingness to help.

What Your Help Makes Possible

Behind the Blue supports the people behind the badge through wellness programs, family support, appreciation efforts, community events, fundraising, outreach, and assistance during times of hardship.

Support can take many forms.

Sometimes it means helping a family facing an unexpected challenge. Sometimes it means creating an event where officers and their families can relax and spend time together. Sometimes it is serving a meal, preparing supplies, collecting donations, or simply welcoming someone with a smile.

Every one of those moments matters.

And volunteers help make them happen.

Ways You Can Help

Volunteer opportunities take many different forms. Some put you right in the middle of an event. Others happen quietly behind the scenes.

You may help with:

  • Appreciation events
  • Family events
  • Wellness initiatives
  • Donation drives
  • Fundraising events
  • Event setup and cleanup
  • Food service and hospitality
  • Guest welcome and check-in
  • Community outreach
  • Event preparation and other behind-the-scenes needs

There is no small role.

Setting up tables, serving a meal, welcoming a family, collecting donations, or helping clean up at the end of the day all contribute to the same mission: supporting the people who serve our community.

Volunteer When You Can

Behind the Blue supports programs and events throughout the year, primarily throughout Las Vegas and Southern Nevada.

Some volunteer opportunities are part of larger community events and fundraisers. Others may involve smaller family activities, wellness programs, appreciation events, or donation drives.

You do not have to make a major time commitment to make a difference.

Our goal is to build a community of volunteers we can reach out to when opportunities arise. You decide when an opportunity works for your schedule.

Whether you volunteer once a year or more often, your time matters.

Why Showing Up Matters

Showing up sends a message.

When officers, employees, retirees, and their families see members of the community giving their time to support them, they know their service is seen and appreciated.

That can mean more than you might realize.

Volunteering with Behind the Blue gives you a chance to make that support personal. You may help prepare an appreciation event, support a family activity, lend a hand at a fundraiser, or assist with a wellness initiative.

Whatever the role, you are helping Behind the Blue remind the people behind the badge that their community is behind them too.

Everyone Has Something to Offer

You do not need special experience or a connection to law enforcement to volunteer with Behind the Blue.

Our volunteers come from different backgrounds and bring different skills, experiences, and reasons for wanting to help.

Some are retired first responders. Some have family members in law enforcement. Others simply believe in giving back to the people who serve Southern Nevada.

You do not need to know exactly where you fit before getting started.

Tell us a little about yourself, your interests, and your availability. One of our coordinators will then contact you to learn more and help connect you with opportunities that may be a good fit.
