Violent-Criminal Apprehension
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, alongside the FBI’s Criminal Apprehension Team, is hosting a 5-day Violent-Criminal Apprehension course. This program delivers real-world investigative techniques followed by the practical application of apprehension tactics used by active detectives currently working in the field.
This course is designed to test students’ problem-solving, operational planning, and risk mitigation. The goal is to demonstrate how high-risk apprehension operations can be conducted with minimal impact to the communities we serve.
The course begins with one day in the classroom, followed by four days of force-on-force scenarios. Each skill compounds upon the next — allowing students to seamlessly transition between desired apprehension tactics while accounting for citizen impact, environmental factors, and overall case integrity.

How We Train
Students will receive hands-on instruction and live demonstrations that evolve into full apprehension scenarios. Each skill builds upon the last, creating a progression that reflects real operational conditions. We emphasize the importance of seizing tactical windows — and the catastrophic outcomes of forcing an apprehension before conditions are right.
Day 1
Classroom InstructionFoundational concepts, investigative techniques, legal frameworks, and operational planning.
Days 2 – 5
Force-on-Force ScenariosLive scenario-based training with escalating complexity across vehicle, open area, and covert environments.
Course Goal
