Granddaughter of Retired LVMPD Executive Management Assistant Diane Ferriolo

We are asking our community to come together in support of Makenzie Ferriolo, a 15-year-old who is currently facing a life-threatening medical battle. Makenzie is the granddaughter of Diane Ferriolo, a retired LVMPD executive management assistant who dedicated 28 years of service to the department, working alongside Assistant Sheriffs Christopher Darcy and Todd Fasulo, as well as Deputy Chief Patrick Neville.

Makenzie has been diagnosed with Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM), a rare and serious condition in which the immune system attacks healthy brain tissue, causing severe inflammation and significant neurological complications.

The Journey So Far

On March 19, Makenzie was airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she has remained in the ICU in critical condition. One of the most difficult aspects of her care has been ongoing “neurological storming” episodes, during which she becomes extremely distressed and requires constant monitoring and care.

During these episodes, Makenzie needs the continuous presence of her parents, Joseph and Jennifer, who remain by her side around the clock to comfort and support her through each moment.

A Family Under Strain

While Makenzie’s siblings, Justus and Reagan, remain at home hoping and praying for her recovery, Joseph and Jennifer have not left her side in the hospital. As the sole provider for the family, Joseph is unable to work and is on leave without pay, creating a significant financial strain.

In addition to the loss of income, the family is facing the ongoing costs associated with extended ICU care, travel, and the long road ahead.

Doctors have shared that Makenzie’s recovery may take 12 to 18 months, requiring continued care, patience, and support as she works toward healing.

How You Can Help

Your support will help ease the financial burden on Makenzie’s family so they can focus entirely on her recovery. Funds will go toward:

  • Medical and hospital-related expenses
  • Travel and lodging during her extended ICU stay
  • Everyday living expenses during this difficult time

If you are able, please consider:

  • Donating to support the family
  • Sharing Makenzie’s story to help reach others
  • Keeping Makenzie and her family in your thoughts during this time

Every act of support makes a meaningful difference.

Please join us in standing with Makenzie and her family as they face the road ahead together.

Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and support.
