We are rallying around LVMPD Dispatcher Holly Danforth and her 9-year-old daughter, Madeleine Larae Gomez, as they face an incredibly difficult journey. Holly joined the department two years ago and recently completed radio training, proudly serving our community. Now, she is by her daughter’s side as they face a battle no parent ever expects.
Madeleine was recently diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), with possible signs of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and bone marrow failure. Her medical team is still working to understand the extent of her condition fully, but they anticipate she will need intensive chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant soon.
Despite the gravity of her diagnosis, Madeleine is facing it with remarkable strength and courage beyond her years. Holly and Madeleine are currently in Memphis, where Madeleine is receiving care at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The timeline for treatment is uncertain, and Holly will be away from work indefinitely as she focuses on her daughter’s health.
We are asking for your support to help ease this family’s financial burden—covering travel, lodging, daily expenses, and any uncovered medical care.
Your kindness can help Holly focus on what matters most: being there for Madeleine as she bravely fights this disease.
