We are asking our community to come together in support of Raegan, the 8-month-old daughter of LVMPD Police Officer Ashley Herrera, as she faces a serious medical battle that no child should ever have to endure.
Shortly after Raegan was born, she was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare and life-threatening liver disease that affects infants. At just five weeks old, Raegan underwent a major surgery known as the Kasai procedure, which doctors hoped would help restore her liver function and give her a chance to grow and thrive.
Unfortunately, the surgery was not successful.
Today, Raegan urgently needs a liver transplant. She is currently on the transplant list, but because there are many children in more critical condition, her place on the list remains low. While the family waits and hopes for the call that could save her life, Raegan continues to fight every day.
Her mother, Ashley Herrera, serves our community as a police officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Like many parents in law enforcement, Ashley has dedicated her career to protecting others. Now she is balancing that responsibility with the role that matters most—being there for her daughter during constant medical appointments, treatments, and hospital visits. Ashley continues to work when she can, but often must take time away from work to care for Raegan and manage the many demands of her medical care.
The financial and emotional strain on the family has been overwhelming. Medical expenses, travel for specialized care, and the ongoing needs that come with preparing for a liver transplant continue to grow.
