We’re rallying around a long-time member of the LVMPD family—Kurt Quante—who is currently facing a life-altering medical challenge.
Kurt has been with METRO since March 2002 and has dedicated his career to public safety, following in the footsteps of his father, Roy Quante, a retired officer who served 20 years. From the moment Kurt first visited his dad at the jail as a child, he knew he wanted to work in law enforcement. He began his career as a Detention Services Technician (DST) and proudly worked his way into his dream role as a Control Room Operator (CRO), where his attention to detail—and even his video game reflexes—helped him thrive.
On June 17, 2025, Kurt went to the emergency room for what seemed like routine foot pain. What followed was anything but routine. Doctors discovered a fracture that quickly turned into a serious infection, ultimately resulting in the lower part of his leg being amputated. Kurt remains in outpatient rehab, working hard through rehabilitation with the goal of returning home—and one day returning to the job he loves.
This fundraiser will help support Kurt with medical expenses, rehabilitation, accessibility needs, and the many unexpected costs that come with such a major life change. Let’s come together and show Kurt that his METRO family—and his community—are behind him every step of the way.
Thank you for your generosity, encouragement, and support. Together, we can help Kurt take the next steps toward healing and home.
